What is Leadership what is it about??

The word “LEADERSHIP” it self explain its meaning which means a group of people lead by a leader. For example, a captain of football team is a leader who guides his team to purse the aim of wining the game.

There are many types of leaders such as:

TEACHERS: The one who teach us the values and ethics by which we can do the good things. As teachers are the rule barkers and rule makers who teach us how to follow the rule.

HEROES: They are the people who persuade people to follow them by good cause or noble works. They make the positive image of themselves in front of people. some examples of heroes leader are: Mahatma Gandhi , A.P.J Abdul Kalam,etc.

RULERS: The one who dominate people so that they can gain the power to rule the situation. As rulers are the most bad type of leaders as some can become greedy and over use their power.

As all the leaders have same traits that are listed below:

  • All leaders have RESPONSIBILITY to make their team best.
  • They have a SELF CONFIDENCE which makes their personality different
  • The most important factor that all leader have is the PUNCTUALITY which describe the leader
  • LOYALTY is the another factor that counts in a leaders trait.

HOW TO BECOME A LEADER?

As it is very simple to become a leader, we should have the qualities that a leader contain such as, decision making, punctuality, time management, loyalty, etc to unity a team together. A leader should not be partially for the one he should give equal respect to all the members of the group so that each and every person of the team love to be the part of his group.

WHAT DO FOLLOWERS WANT FROM THEIR LEADERS?

As this is the best question for the leader form their followers, answer to this question is that the leader should be caring and honest. He should not be greedy, as he should think firstly for his team member then for himself. He should take everybody with them and he should know his level such as what he can do for his team and for what extend he is capable for his team.

According to the equation of the leadership leaders are of two types:

  • TRAIT THEORY: this theory focus on the physical and psychological characteristics of the leader.
  • BEHAVIOUR THEORY: this theory focus on how a leader behave and how he works. according to this theory there are three type of leaders Autocratic, Democratic and Laissez-faire.

Ralph Stogdill and others Created the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire or L B D Q which explained two dimensions Initiating structure and Consideration4

University of Michigan Studies on Leadership

Rensis Likert conducted a study which identified two dimensions of leadership Job-centered and Employee-centered

Robert Blake and Jane Mouton

Created a grid which identifies the ideal leader show concern for both the production and people. Reflects the Ohio and Michigan dimensions of initiating structure and showing consideration

Leadership Contingency Theory

This explains that leader in different situation or circumstance have different need and wants. Like leaders in a bank differ from the ones on a farm

Transformational Leadership

Charisma: is the ability of a person to inspire other and bring forth loyalty in them.
